While the movie is slated to hit theaters on December 28, 2007, the mobile game, “Hanuman Returns”, will hit stores around two weeks ahead of the film release.

This is the first time that the audiences will be witnessing the rise of an Indian superhero

Jump Games has partnered with the makers of the film, Percept Picture Company (PPC) to launch online and mobile games based on India’s superhero, Hanuman. PPC has also signed-up Microsoft for its console game Xbox 360 and Broadband Internet connection, Xbox Live.

“Hanuman Returns” is more of an adventure game, the Japanese game sorts that were released at the time of the NES and Super NES.

The game sees Hanuman in action, with his gada or mace/weapon in hand. Like in the mythological story, all power-ups are through the power of the Sun.

The game is fast-paced and fun, and wonderfully captures Hanuman’s experiences on mobiles.

The game is compatible with most phones The interface is slick, and seems to be meticulously done.

If the film can be described as a mythological character-based animation film, the game shows the character as a mythological super hero.

Salil Bhargava, chief executive officer of Jump Games, said that animated films have always been a great content source for gaming and that with a larger than life character like Hanuman, the game holds incredible scope.

The Hanuman Returns mobile game is expected to release two weeks before the movie, which hits the theaters on December 28, 2007.

Apparently, the game is the first in the series with the production house soon to start work on Hanuman 3 which is titled as Return of Ravana.
